Asphalt Roller Operator

Position Description

The Roller Operator is responsible for the safe and proper operation of assigned equipment and produce a quality end product meeting specification.

Responsibilities:

• Comply with (and actively promote) all Safety policies and procedures including reporting all accidents, incidents and near misses to ensure adherence to our Number One Core Value – Safety, first in everything we do.
• Understand and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures.
• Perform required pre and post inspections including but not limited to; motor oil, fuel, hydraulics, radiator, water tank and spray system, grease accordingly and keep the unit clean.
• Follow the direction of the Supervisor and Quality Control Technician and perform the required rolling pattern to achieve the required density per specification.
• Roll the mix as necessary, pinching joints to achieve a quality finished product.
• Complete a thorough equipment report, and advise supervisor of any problems that may arise through the Middlesex Application
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED certificate
• 1-2 years asphalt roller operator experience
• Ability to endure the physical demands

Necessary Attributes:

• Must possess the ability to adapt to different personalities and management styles
• Commitment to safety, quality, and integrity oriented with strong professional work ethics
• Demonstrate the ability to locate and check all fluid levels.
• Conduct an equipment walk around
• Identify/locate all grease/lubrication points on the Roller
• Discuss and locate all safety equipment (fire extinguisher, back up alarm, lights, etc.)
• Demonstrate the correct method for cleaning the roller drum
• Discuss the operation of the DEF System
• Know operational differences between a paving and dirt roller
• How to read soil conditions (moisture, compact ability, etc.)
• Discuss/ Demonstrate “how to seal material”
• Discuss/ Demonstrate rolling patterns
• Discuss/ Demonstrate how to read density when compacting
• Discuss/ Demonstrate the use of sheepsfoot rollers

• Asphalt Roller Operating: 2 years (Preferred)

Salary : $37,500 - $47,500
