Position Overview:
The Paper Store is in search of a dynamic individual to lead the Shipping & Receiving department at the company’s distribution center, located in Leominster, MA. This department encompasses all administrative and physical functions related to the shipping & receiving of products and supplies. The successful candidate is someone with a demonstrated commitment to building a strong, inclusive employee culture, with an emphasis on development.This leader is a collaborative partner with individuals at all levels of the organization. They are solution-oriented and results-driven to achieve performance objectives, to modify or create processes that improve efficiency, and to provide world class service to retail locations. This position reports to the Distribution Center General Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
- Be a TPS Brand Ambassador
- Contribute to The Paper Store’s commitment to providing a positive associate culture by modeling ethical behavior, fostering open communication, and maintaining confidential information as required.
- Lead the daily activities of the Shipping & Receiving department by setting priorities, assigning tasks, following up on progress and course correcting to meet productivity expectations.
- Manage a diverse team of individual contributors, temporary associates, and supervisors ranging from 10 to 50 people depending on the time of year.
- Organize and conduct daily department meetings to communicate achievements, results, information, and goals.
- Build a versatile department, overseeing the training of team members in all functions within the department and facilitating the opportunity to cross train in other departments.
- Assess all team members through the annual performance review process and quarterly succession planning.
- Develop associates through regular one-on-one meetings, goal setting and follow up, training plans, and exposure to assignments with increased responsibility.
- With the General Manager and Human Resources Manager’s guidance, develop the competencies of future leaders to build management bench strength to meet the future leadership needs of the business.
- Partner with leadership throughout the business to create strategic solutions, enhance productivity to achieve departmental/organizational goals.
- Maintain output timeliness and accuracy within all department functions, ensuring the correct product is sent to stores at the correct time.
- Provide regular and succinct communication to stores regarding delivery times and dates, delays and/or adjustments to the delivery schedule, and to respond to questions from stores, third party carriers, and supply chain associates.
- Track department supplies, maximizing efficient use and cost-savings, and ordering accordingly.
- Determine labor and production needs based on incoming and outgoing product plans by week, month, and quarter.
- Utilize supply chain software such as WMS and TMS to plan the daily workload, manage production/priorities and troubleshoot issues.
- Prepare for and participate in daily resource meetings and periodic leadership meetings throughout the year.
- Comply with the DC dress code, with professional attire, appearance, and demeanor.
- Perform management functions as expected. This includes, but is not limited to, opening, and closing the building, ensuring the wellbeing and safety of all associates and company assets, adjusting work schedule, to meet the needs of the business and to fulfill position expectations.
- Complete all other tasks as assigned by senior company leaders.
Job Requirements:
- Have a positive attitude and be self-motivated.
- Three years minimum experience managing in a distribution/warehouse setting.
- Ability to prioritize and work well under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills

- Demonstrated professional etiquette, both written and verbal
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Experience and proficiency with computer and database application skills, such as Microsoft 365
- Familiarity with inventory, TMS and WMS., Aptos experience a plus
- Demonstrated initiative to problem solve and to think and operate strategically
- Ability to work a Fflexible schedule including mid shifts throughout the year and weekends, around major holidays, including the months of November through December
- Ability to stand/walk for 8 hours.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, and push/pull 75 pounds while utilizing appropriate safety techniques
- Ability to commute to the Leominster, MA Distribution Center f or all scheduled shifts.
