Overview
The Mainframe Computer Operator will run daily batch jobs within a modernized mainframe environment. Attention to details is an important aspect of this position. Being able to recognize problems or anomalies within the batch operations can often to prevent adverse outcomes. This position will interface with multiple departments within the company and thus should strive for a high level of customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Operate computer and take corrective action when necessary.
- Must be well versed in operating instructions/restart procedures.
- Verify that all processing is complete before ending the shift.
- Prepare peripheral equipment with forms and tapes.
- Train new operators.
- Work second shift when necessary.
- Assist operations manager with after-hours computer problems.
- Assist in reconciling technical problems with the operating system.
- Other responsibilities as may be assigned by management
Qualifications
- One to two years of computer operations experience
- High school diploma (college courses a plus).
- Basic understanding of batch operations.
- IBM VSEn Operating System experience
- Job Control Language (JCL)
