What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant Floater position at The ROADS Foundation, Inc.?
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
1. At least one year of experience in ambulatory care setting as a Medical Assistant.
2. Valid California Driver’s License, a good DMV record, transportation available to meet job requirements with vehicle insurance (if necessary).
3. Physical examination which indicates that the employee is able to meet the physical requirements of the job including: Lifting up to 10 lbs, frequent walking, moderate sitting, stooping, bending, twisting.
4. Skilled in Microsoft Office, data entry, electronic medical record and use of business email.
5. Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
TRAINING, EDUCATION AND LICENSURE
1. Completion of accredited Medical Assistant Training Program.
2. Current BLS certification
RESPONSIBILITIES:
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
1. Knowledge of and compliance with the ROADS policies and procedures.
2. Shift coverage may be assigned to Compton and or Long Beach.
3. Ability to function with autonomy and in collaboration with the Physician and Nurse Practitioner.
4. Clinical duties including patient triage, data collection and recording, administration of vaccines and medications, medical records keeping, limited patient education, CLIA waived lab testing, labeling and transporting laboratory specimens.
5. Effective communication with Patients, Nurse Practitioner, and ROADS staff members.
6. Notifying patients of normal and abnormal laboratory findings as instructed by the Nurse Practitioner.
7. Assisting Physician or FNP with management of Immunization Program including vaccine administration, data collection, reporting, ordering and transporting vaccine.
8. Assisting Physician or FNP with management of Patient Assistance Program for medications including ordering prescribed medications and record keeping.
9. Assists Physician or FNP in the patient referral process, tracking referrals and referral follow-up.
10. Participation in data collection for quality assurance programs.
11. Physical examination which indicates that the employee is able to meet the physical requirements of the job including: Lifting, Walking, Stooping, Bending, Twisting.
12. Computer use for research, data entry, record keeping, and business communication via email.
13. Other duties as assigned.
