Overview
Location: Bridgeport Corps (Bridgeport, CT)
Status: Non-exempt, Part-time, Temporary (July 19 – August 12, 2024)
Hours Per Week: 20
Schedule: Tues – Thurs, 9:30 am – 2:30 pm (schedule may vary)
Scope & Purpose of Position: Assist with the summer youth activities of the Bridgeport Corps.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to all policies and procedures of The Salvation Army and the guidelines for staff responsibilities as found in The Salvation Army’s Employee Manuals.
- Assist in record keeping (attendance statistics).
- Assist in setup and clean up each day.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of youth activities.
- Assist in the preparation and serving of lunch and snacks each day.
- Assist with other programs as requested.
- Attend staff meetings as needed.
- Demonstrate respect and professionalism with clients, staff, community reps, and volunteers.
- Maintain a clean, orderly work area and keep confidential information secure.
- Maintain confidentiality and exhibit loyalty to The Salvation Army and staff in all job-related matters.
- Participate in all activities with youth, as directed.
- Refer those seeking spiritual guidance to the Corps Officers.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED or working towards one is required.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as with others.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred; proficient in spoken and written English.
- Demonstrate discretion, integrity, and confidentiality in dealing with all matters.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Experience supervising elementary-aged (ages 6-12) children.
- High energy level, solid work ethic, and ability to respond to changing conditions.
- Must complete KeepSAfe and other training requirements upon hire.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record are highly preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
- Will respect and promote the interest of The Salvation Army. The individual is not required to embrace the tenets of faith, but he/she is required to promote and respect the mission of The Salvation Army.
