Primary Purpose of the Job:
Supervise day-to-day nursing activities, ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local standards. Collaborate with the health care team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans. Administer medications, record vital signs, and assist patients with daily tasks.
Responsibilities of Geriatric Nurses include (but are not limited to):
- Coordinate with the health care team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans
- Administer and record prescribed medications
- Assess patients' ability to perform routine daily tasks
- Assist patients with basic needs, promoting independence and self-esteem
- Recognize and manage geriatric syndromes
- Involve, educate, and supervise family/significant others in implementing best practices for older adults
- Promote quality end-of-life care for older adults
