Herons Host PM

Description

We are looking for a host to join our team and be the first point of contact for our guests.

Host responsibilites include greeting guests, providing accurate wait times and escorting customers to the dining and bar areas. For this role, you should have solid organizational and people skills to make sure our guests have a positive dining experience from the moment they arrive till their departure. Ultimately, you’ll ensure we provide excellent customer service and a pleasant dining experience to our guests.

Responsibilites:

• Welcome guests to the venue
• Manage reservations
• Escort customers to assigned dining areas
• Provide menus and announce server's name
• Wish a fond farewell to customers upon their departure
• Coordinate with manager about available seating options
• Maintain a clean reception area
• Cater to guests who require extra attention (e.g. children, elderly)
• Answer incoming calls and address customers’ queries
• Make confirmation calls to guests prior to their reservation
• Keep running inventories on host supplies to make sure we don't run out
• Assist staff as needed

Hours:

This is a part-time position, consisting of about 25 hours over 5 days a week. The specific days/hours are Tuesday-Sat, 4pm-9pm. 

Qualifications

This is for a part-time (about 30 hours) host position for dinner service only.

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule in order to accomplish all major responsibilities and tasks.
• Must be a self-motivator and motivator of others.
• Must work in a safe, prudent and organized manner.
• Must have a good knowledge of food and preparation.
• Must have or quickly acquire a good knowledge of wine.
• Must be able to relate to all levels of guests and management.
• Must have a minimum of 1 year experience in a similar position.
• Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time.
• Must be able to consistently delight and satisfy our guest.

Physical Requirements:

• Most work tasks are performed indoors though there will be also be restaurant seating as well as cocktail tables outdoors on the terrace.
• May be exposed to extreme weather conditions, including excessive heat and cold.
• Physical ability to walk and handle trays, food items, glasses, etc. in a safe and constructive manner for at least 4 hours at a time.
• Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space and to reach other locations of the hotel on a timely basis.
• Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks occasionally.
• Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates.
• Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near and color vision and depth perception.
• Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
• Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, both written and oral.
• Ability to use OpenTable computer systems and Microsoft Word.

Education:

High school or equivalent education required

Experience:

Host experience required; hospitality experience preferred

Licenses or Certificates:

Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates or permits.

Grooming:

All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per The Umstead Hotel standards.
