Job Summary:
To assist the Director of Internal Audit in the coordination of the internal audit program and staff activities to ensure compliance with applicable laws and institutional policies and procedures. To assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of audit policies, procedures, and standards.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field plus five (5) years of related experience. Experience cannot be substituted for educational requirement. Experience in state government, higher education or healthcare settings; knowledge and previous use of teammate software preferred.
Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of Financial/Business Analysis Techniques. Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, and institutional laws, regulations, and policies. Verbal and written communication skills. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Interpersonal skill to interact with a wide range of constituencies. Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and direct a comprehensive institutional internal audit program. Ability to analyze and solve problems. Ability to perform and evaluate the quality of audit work. Ability to train, supervise, and motivate employees.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Examines and analyzes data to ensure the effectiveness of accounting and managerial controls, accuracy of transactions, and compliance with applicable laws and institutional policies and procedures.
- Participates in the development of detailed audit plans and programs.
- Performs specific audit procedures and prepares comprehensive written audit reports. Follows up to assess adequacy of corrective actions by auditors.
- Develops and communicates observations and recommendations for improvement.
- Provides training for and supervision of senior and staff auditors.
- Conducts special studies and projects as assigned.
