Fabricates dentures, dental restorations, and dental framework using digital scanning technology. Works with digital files, 3D printed models, and dental design software. Maintains equipment and supplies.
The dental laboratory technician is responsible for teaching and demonstrating laboratory techniques to the predoctoral students in the CAD/CAM Clinic and lab. The lab tech maintains equipment, supplies and cleanliness in the lab. The lab tech is responsible for making sure all necessary materials are available for patient care and that all cases are adequately prepared and approved by supervising faculty. The lab tech works directly with the students in using CAD/CAM technology to take impressions, 3D design, determine appropriate materials, and mill the restoration. The dental tech will assist faculty in digital dentistry courses, competency exams, and patient cases. Ability to demonstrate all steps of producing ceramic restorations using CAD/CAM technology.
