critical process control equipment in the hydrocarbon, chemical, and renewable energy

industries.

With established production and R&D facilities in Houston, Texas and Devizes, England,

we are proud to expand our manufacturing footprint to Sanford, North Carolina. Our

organization offers two primary industry-leading solutions: K-MASS DB (Directly Bonded)

and K-MASS FI (Field Installed).

Our new Sanford facility is a specialized center of excellence dedicated exclusively to the

"FI" product line. By joining our North Carolina team, you will be playing a vital role in

supporting our global sales efforts and ensuring that our innovative fire protection

solutions are ready to protect lives and infrastructure around the world.

Job Summary

Thermal Designs Inc. is a global leader in intumescent epoxy fire protection solutions. As

we launch our new center of excellence in Sanford, NC, we are seeking a motivated

Production Associate to join us on a temporary-to-permanent basis.

In this role, you will be on the front lines of our "setup and running" phase. You will be

responsible for the hands-on manufacturing of our "FI" (Field Installed) product line, using

precision molds and our proprietary epoxy to create life-saving safety components for the

global energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Casting & Molding: Prepare molds and pour/inject proprietary intumescent epoxy

according to strict formulations and procedures.

  • Finishing: Use orbital sanders and hand tools to remove flashing and smooth

surfaces for a professional finish.

  • Surface Preparation: Operate abrasive blasting (shot blasting) equipment to

prepare parts for coating or shipment.

  • Quality Assurance: Inspect parts for voids or defects; perform precision filling and

repairs as needed to meet quality standards.

  • Painting & Coating: Apply industrial coatings/paint to finished parts per customer

specifications.

  • Logistics: Carefully package finished products for domestic and international

shipment, ensuring all documentation is accurate.

  • Maintenance: Clean and maintain molds and shop equipment to ensure longevity

and safety.

  • Shop Support: Assist the Pattern/Mold Maker and General Manager with facility

setup, R&D testing, and equipment maintenance as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Environment: Previous experience in a manufacturing, assembly, auto body, or

construction shop is preferred.

  • Tool Proficiency: Comfortable using power tools (sanders, drills) and shop

equipment.

  • Detail Oriented: Ability to follow exact mixing ratios and spot small surface defects.
  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work plans.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual

material handling (lifting/carrying) in a production environment.

  • Safety: Commitment to wearing all required PPE (including respirators and eye

protection) and following safety protocols.

Physical Requirements & Competencies

  • Manual Dexterity: Strong hand-eye coordination for high-precision detail work.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform manual material handling (lifting/carrying) and

stand for extended periods in a production environment.

  • Attention to Detail: A "right-the-first-time" approach to craftsmanship.
  • Professionalism: Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a

collaborative team.

  • Communication: Strong verbal communication skills and highly organized.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $50.00 per hour
