How will you make an impact?
As part of the Rapid Value Stream within the Genetic Sciences Division (GSD) of Thermo Fisher Scientific, the successful candidate will support the QC of Oligonucleotide manufacturing operations. The individual will work collaboratively with cross-functional groups and Upper Leadership in supporting the implementation of NPIs and projects for the Department. The candidate will work with the RVS work centers for order prioritization and timeliness. The candidate will also be responsible for supporting overall automatization, optimization, and process improvements in the Lab. The individual will be responsible for ensuring proper and effective utilization of the teams to ensure all business specifications and requirements are met. The candidate will have a strong time management and organization skills along with interpersonal skills and ability to participate effectively in multidisciplinary teams to solve problems in manufacturing environment.
The candidate will provide daily supervision of the Oligo Manufacturing QC team including: correcting behavior & performance issues in real time and raising issues to manager as needed, participate in corrective action with manager regarding performance/behavior issues as needed, ensure teams are following processes in compliance with company policies and Quality System Regulations, provide technical support to team leads as needed, work with team to adapt to changes affecting daily production schedule to ensure available team resources can meet planned production, participate in interviewing and hiring process as required.
What will you do?
- Lead, coach, and develop team
- Monitor, track and provide feedback on employee performance through 1:1s and PMD process.
- Drive team to achieve goals and expectations
- Promote safety culture by carrying out policies and procedures as well as performing Safety Gemba walks.
- Lead and participate in Continues Improvement Initiatives - Practical Process Improvement (PPI) events
- Leverage process improvements for problem solving and root cause analysis for improvement or adherence to KPI targets
- Manages Timecards and time off for direct reports
- Work with Supervisors and Team Leads to achieve and maintain healthy training and cross training levels for the department
- Understand, review and update KPIs in the Daily Management Tier System
- Provide guidance, direction, and leadership for the areas of supervision to ensure that products are manufactured with the highest level of quality in a safe and timely manner that will meet or exceed our customer’s expectation
- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product Support projects and NPIs
- Create and promote an environment where employees can grow and develop into greater levels of contribution
- Support our manufacturing operations in organization and execution of production flow as well as reporting and documentation of production results
- Connect with the RVS work-center supervisors about order priorities, specifications, and timelines.
- Engage and work successfully with Upper Management and cross-functional teams
- Responsible for assisting Technical Leads & Team Leads with technical issues such as training, organization workflow, and troubleshooting production issues.
- Analyze production schedules and estimate hours and other requirements for completion of job assignment in a timely manner.
- Analyze and resolve work problems and support team in solving work problems.
- Initiate, suggest and implement strategies to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
How will you get here?
- Associate/Technical degree or BS in science or related field is preferred
- 4 years of experience in manufacturing required
- 2 years of experience in people leadership required
- Experience monitoring, tracking, and providing feedback on employee performance through 1:1’s and PMD’s
- Experience in process improvement, i.e.: Lean Manufacturing Principles

Salary : $67,100 - $85,000
