Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic, experienced individual to join our company as an Optician. As part of our team, you work directly with customers to fit and adjust new glasses and eyewear, assist with new contact lens prescriptions, and answer any customer questions regarding the fit, use, and care of their new frames. You deliver top-level customer service to every customer, from initial questions and try-ons to final fitting and adjustments. Our ideal candidate has prior experience in an optical environment, coupled with outstanding customer service and multitasking skills. Bilingual in Spanish or Arabic required. Knowledge of HIPAA and optical terminology is a strong plus.
General Accountabilities
- Ability to work between locations
- Design, measure, fit, and verify lenses, frames, contact lenses and other devices to correct eyesight according to written optical prescription or specification.
- Verify that finished lenses are ground to specifications.
- Prepare work orders and instructions for grinding lenses and fabricating eyeglasses.
- Measure clients' bridge and eye size, temple length, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and optical centers of eyes, using measuring devices.
- Evaluate prescriptions and educate patients on visual requirements.
- Assist with inserting, removing, and caring for contact lenses.
- Bill contacts or glasses to insurance.
- Notify clients of work order delays.
- Maintain records of customer prescriptions, work orders, and payments.
- Stock and order all optical supplies
- Assist technician, receptionist and scheduler when necessary.
- Check vision, pressure and preform diagnostic testing when needed.
- Schedule patients for exams.
Job Qualifications
- Bilingual preferred.
- Minimum Experience: Must have at least one to two years of previous work-related skill, knowledge or experience in the field.
- ABO and NCLE certification preferred but not required

- Comfortable working in a high volume pediatric office
- Ability to multitask, stay organized and troubleshoot patient problems.
- Experience fitting and measuring glasses to exceed patients needs and expectations.
