An established, local, mid-size company is looking for their next Director of IT to lead the Information Technology Department and ensure that their technology systems are reliable, up-to-date, and meet their needs for years to come. Primary Role / Responsibilities:
Manages IT staff members, processes and projects:
- Follows and enforces company policies, processes and procedures
- Oversees I.T. Department functions, tasks and projects to ensure timely execution
- Ensures the operation of the IT Department aligns with the business objectives of the organization
- Ensures tools and training are provided for associates to achieve departmental goals
- Interviews, hires, counsels and terminates associates when necessary
- Supervises, mentors, coaches and trains staff
- Conducts regular performance evaluations and annual salary reviews
Accountable for system administration including all operating systems software and hardware:
- Determines IT systems requirements; directs and supports upgrades and new implementations of system hardware and software
- Meets with I.S. Team regularly to communicate status updates, current challenges and to seek or make recommendations and plans for system and software improvements
- Ensures urgent issues are resolved quickly and efficiently and reports progress to I.S. Committee, Executives and managers as necessary
- Collaborates and communicates with Vendors, I.T. staff and internal managers when working on and planning for new programs, implementations, processes and projects
- Supports ERP software and all 3rd party software
- Manages IT activities to ensure data and network services are available with little or no downtime
- Ensures that quality technical service and help desk response are provided to our team
- Develops or recommends program enhancements for more efficient operations within company
- Assesses systems, programs, data, hardware and identifies need for improvements
- Ensures all critical I.T. processes are documented
- Monitors security risks to ensure corporate security is met
- Maintains Disaster Recovery Plan
- Oversees department finances, including preparing and presenting annual budget plan and adhering to that plan during the year
- Maintains professional relationships with vendors, providers and associates; keeps best interest of our company as the priority
- Negotiates pricing with vendors and providers
- Ensures company maintains software licensing requirements
- Stays informed about new technology to improve efficiency within operations of our company
- Plans and conducts training in AS400 query
- Available for after-hours emergencies and implementations when necessary
What We are looking for in a Top Candidate:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory, management or leadership role, preferably in an I.T. setting
- Minimum of 10 years in the technology field
- Experience with IBM Power Systems and system management of same
- Hands-on experience in RPG, CL, RPG-free
- Familiar with Cisco Routing and Firewall environments
- Knowledge of warehouse automation configuration and support of necessary equipment for same, including POS and POD units
- Knowledge of EDI and FTP, VOIP and network infrastructures
- Disaster Recovery Protocols
- Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Possesses strategic decision-making and analytical skills
- Ability to be adaptable in order to respond to arising challenges
- Experience providing teams with a clear sense of direction
