What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Custodian position at Town of Brookline?
The Public Library of Brookline seeks a building custodian to perform the following duties: Open the library, secure the library, lock doors and set alarm; clean and maintain bathrooms; check heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems; sweep floors and vacuum floors and carpets; wash and dry mop floors; seasonal tasks include shoveling, salting and sanding. Dust, wash and polish; ensure that the building is secure; order stock and receive deliveries; empty barrels; set up for meetings; empty book drop; bring in newspapers; assist library staff, as requested; may exercise supervisory responsibilities. Will operate standard cleaning and maintenance equipment (scrubbers, floor machines, vacuum, and pressure sprayer). Manual and custodial work in and around library buildings; other related work, as required.
Qualifications:
High school diploma, or equivalent; experience in custodial and maintenance work. Valid Massachusetts Drivers License, Class D. Ability to use hand tools and perform basic repairs and maintenance, follow written and oral instructions.
