What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Laborer position at Town of Harwich Water Department?
The primary and distinct responsibility of the seasonal laborer positions is to landscape over 2,126 acres of Water Department property and assist in the maintenance of over 1,300 Hydrants. Seasonal Laborers mow, weeds, rakes, seeds, loams, plants, waters, trims and cuts trees, hedges, shrubbery, picks up and disposes of rubbish and leaves, clean, lubricate, & paint hydrants.
Candidates must be 18, or able to obtain a work permit and must have reliable transportation to/from work. Experience in operating a variety of landscaping and turf equipment. Candidates must be self-motivated and work effectively independently as well as demonstrate good workmanship in a neat and timely manner.
Other knowledge, skills and abilities include the ability to read and write English, to follow instruction, procedures and safety precautions. Must be able to Ability to report for work on time and perform the duties of the job for a complete workday. Skill in Skill in operating lawn mowers, weed trimmers and a variety of light power and hand tools, ability to perform landscaping duties under varying weather conditions for long periods of time. Ability to work while wearing personal protective equipment such as a work boots, rain gear, hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, etc
