Join Our Team: Grounds Technician - Town of Hilton Head Island
The Town of Hilton Head Island is seeking a Grounds Technician to provide maintenance, care and modification of all Town grounds and landscapes to ensure safe, well maintained, and pleasant conditions.
What You Will Do:
- Conduct weekly park quality inspections and daily monitoring of paths, sidewalks, facilities buildings, and parking lots to prevent, remove or report hazardous conditions.
- Conduct weekly drive throughs and daily monitoring of roadways, corridor medians, shoulders, and pathways to prevent, remove, or report hazardous conditions.
- Ensure designated trash and recycle receptacles are being regularly emptied by contractors.
- Assist contractors by emptying overflowing cans from excessive use as needed.
- Assist contractors by collecting and properly disposing of loose litter and debris around parks, corridor medians, roadside shoulders and along pathways.
- Maintain dog stations by regularly filling doggie bags and removing waste from bins.
- Trim and remove landscape debris from pathways, roadsides and around facilities.
- Responsible for minor maintenance of roadway and pathway signs.
- Responsible for minor repairs, replacement and/or painting fences.
- Assist in setup and breakdown for Town Events.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of related experience in grounds maintenance; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Facilities and/or landscape maintenance experience preferred.
Special Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s license
- May require varied work schedule
