**Hiring Range $50,100 to $60,000 **
Performs advanced professional and administrative work planning and supervising the installation, maintenance, repair and/or construction of roads, sidewalks, curb and gutter, signs, parking lots, storm water systems, right-of-ways, and associated infrastructure. Work is performed with limited supervision of the Streets Maintenance Supervisor. Oversees work crews to include full and part-time street maintenance technicians, temporary workers, volunteers, and contractors; performs related work as required.
Performs advanced professional and administrative work planning and supervising the installation, maintenance, repair and/or construction of roads, sidewalks, curb and gutter, signs, parking lots, storm water systems, right-of-ways, and associated infrastructure. Work is performed with limited supervision of the Streets Maintenance Supervisor. Oversees work crews to include full and part-time street maintenance technicians, temporary workers, volunteers, and contractors; performs related work as required.
- Coordinates and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Streets Maintenance Division work crews. Prioritizes work projects and assignments; assigns the necessary staff to accomplish tasks.
- Prepares monthly activity reports, work plans, and construction reports.
- Assists the Streets Maintenance Supervisor with the preparation and management of unit budget; determines cost and resource estimates; tracks budget spending; purchases.
- Plans, coordinates, and directs the implementation of department projects including special projects related to right-of-ways.
- Enters data into the work order software package for work orders.
- Assists with the development and implementation of standard operating procedures.
- Interprets blueprints and construction plans to ensure work is performed accurately. Monitors performance of outside contractors’ work; adjusts their work as necessary; Reports major issues to Streets Maintenance Supervisor
- Provides guidance and technical assistance to staff on projects that require a higher level of assistance.
- Assists with the development and implementation of training programs for staff related to equipment operation and maintenance, and safety.
- Monitors performance of internal work processes during and after completion to ensure procedures are followed, work quality expectations are met, and work complies with approved safety standards.
- Inspects Town owned right-of-ways on a regular basis for maintenance needs and safety items.
- Serves as the Streets Maintenance Supervisor in their absence.
- Ensures all tools and equipment utilized by the staff are inspected and maintained for safe operation at all times; ensures equipment is repaired in a timely manner.
- Assist with enforcement of town policies and safety standards.
- Assists other Town departments with special events and emergency situations as needed.
- Will be required to work outside normal works hours in emergency and on-call situations.
- Maintains effective working relationships w/ associates, contractors & general public; Responds to citizen inquires and complaints regarding right-of-ways.
- Researches and develops specifications for specialized equipment required for right-of-way maintenance programs. Provides reports to Streets Maintenance Supervisor.
- Drives dump truck to haul dirt, rock, debris to job sites or landfill.
- Performs asphalt and concrete repairs and installations, collects litter and debris after storms and special events, cleans ditches and storm sewers, and installs traffic control devices.
- Performs snow and ice removal during inclement weather; operates truck with snowplow on assigned shift.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
