Summary
The Human Resources Director is responsible for providing practical, consistent and comprehensive programs and initiatives to the executive leadership team in addition to guidance and day-to-day support to managers on all human resources matters. The Director is responsible for setting, enforcing, an evaluating legally compliant human resources policies, procedures and best practices.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Establish and implement HR efforts that effectively communicate and support the company's mission and strategic vision.
- Function as a strategic business adviser to the executive management team and to each department regarding organizational and management issues.
- Work with the company's executive management team to establish a sound plan of management succession that corresponds to the strategy and objectives of the company.
- In partnership with outside brokerage firm, develop and implement comprehensive benefit plans that are competitive and cost-effective.
- Provide overall leadership and guidance to the HR function by overseeing employee relations, recruiting, career development, performance management, succession planning, retention, training, leadership and development.
- Effectively administer human resource benefit programs such as compensation, medical, dental, vision, life and disability benefits, leave of absence i.e. FMLA, ADA, STD and LTD plans; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance management; open enrollment, productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; workers compensation; training and development.
§ Monitor and ensure the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices. Reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
§ Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. Apply this knowledge to communicate changes in policy and practice to upper management.
- Management of the company’s comprehensive human resource information system (HRIS) which includes payroll, HR management, workforce management, benefits and recruitment.
- Accurately process new hires, terminations and personnel change notices that involve compensation, payroll, 401(k) retirement and other insurance benefits.
- Respond to the changing needs and demands of the business while maintaining consistency in the application of the corporate HR strategies into the overall business goals.
- Ability to work on special projects in any areas of the business.

Qualifications
§ Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field required.
§ At least 10 years of practical human resource management experience required.
§ PHR/SPHR certification preferred.
§ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
§ This hands-on role requires the ability to maintain confidentiality, handle sensitive information, make solid judgement calls and exercise discretion.
§ The candidate must possess self-management, enthusiasm, a positive and welcoming demeanor, professionalism, integrity, tact and empathy in all interactions.
- A collaborative work style and comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds at all levels within the organization
- Must have strong and effective employee relations, managerial, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Thorough experience ensuring regulatory compliance and in-depth knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
- Extremely organized; ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines; meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
