What are the responsibilities and job description for the Work Center Operator I position at Trend Enterprises Inc.?

 Summary  

To set up and operate a variety of production equipment in accordance with established procedures and guidelines to produce high quality products in a safe and efficient manner.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities – (for Machine Operators I, II, III)  

Product Production  

· Professionally and effectively communicate to your team members to produce high quality products while following products specifications and safety standards.  

· Accurately input material components and labor into computer system and complete miscellaneous paperwork (such as labor tickets and material movement tags) to ensure that all materials and labor are allocated to each order.  

· Verify the accuracy of all materials, components, labels, boxes etc. for each order.  

· Set up, fine tune and troubleshoot equipment, including auxiliary equipment such as box tapers, labelers, printers, punches, stream feeders, scales etc.   

· Ability to comprehend Machine Safety Data Sheets to understand power source, machine hazards, pinch points, PPE and other details for operating equipment safely.  

· Calculate basic math equations to obtain build quantities, skid quantities, labor, production run times and other measurements.  

Quality Assurance  

· Visually inspects components and products to ensure accuracy of finished product.  

· Perform quality checks throughout run to ensure high quality products are being produced while minimizing waste.  

· Work with the Quality Specialist if there are concerns about the usability of products.  

Training  

· Train line employees on product specifications, quality and safety guidelines.  

· Deliver clear and concise instructions to others on the line while promoting a positive working environment that motivates others to meet production expectations in a timely manner.  

· Demonstrates good work ethics for others to follow.  

Safety  

· Performs all aspects of job responsibilities and duties following safety standards,  

· Informs employees in individual work centers about company safety guidelines to ensure proper operation of equipment.  

· Reports unsafe work conditions to the manager or group lead immediately.  

· Maintains a clean and safe working environment.  

 Qualifications  

· High school diploma and a minimum of one year experience working in a manufacturing environment or a combination of experience and knowledge.  

· Must have a sufficient command of the English language in order to read MSD Sheets, Machine Data Safety Sheets, product specification sheets, special instruction order details and ability to lead the production line.  

· Experience working with and operating machinery. Prior working experience with heat tunnels, shrink wrapping and poly film is a plus.  

· Demonstrated trouble shooting and problem solving skills.   

· Knowledge of safety policies and procedures in order to maintain a safe working environment.  

· English language skills sufficient to communicate with employees, seasonal temporary staff and management.  

· Prior experience using production tools and equipment in order to set up machines and coordinate the flow of products.  

· Ability to perform the following tasks;    

  • Effectively work and train people in order to communicate production objectives.  
  • Perform basic math calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages.  
  • Lead and provide basic direction to employees on the production line.  
  • Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently and 10 pounds of force constantly in order to move skids with boxes of product and lifting raw product through various parts of the product line.  
  • Demonstrate good hand/finger dexterity in order to assemble products efficiently.  
  • Stoop, crouch, reach, lift, walk and grasp in order to set up work stations and assemble products on lines.  
  • Pick, pinch and perform repetitive motions in order to package and assemble products on the product line.  
  • Able to talk and hear in order to identify machine malfunctions and communicate within a loud working environment.  
  • Ability to push and pull in order to operate hand jacks.   

 WORKING CONDITIONS & FREQUENCY  

Environmental Conditions (Daily): Noise (80 - 85 decibels), Chemicals, and Fumes  

Equipment & Tools (Daily): Collator/Stitcher/Bag Machine, Imprinter/L-Bar, Cutter/Tape Machines, Automated Shrink Machine, Lift Tables, Micrometers/Calipers/Scales, Hand jacks, Printers/Calculators, Bag Sealer, Conveyer Belts, Boxing Machine
