Position Summary
We’re looking for a motivated and hands-on Part-time Robotics Technician or Student Intern to join our team. You'll play a crucial role in the ongoing development of TRIC's innovative automated pest control systems, which utilize UV light.
This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with our electrical, mechanical, and software engineers. You'll be instrumental in implementing and testing new robotic designs and cutting-edge sensor technologies for various fruit crops. Your day-to-day will involve a "hands-on" approach, working with electromechanical equipment, computers, and software to set up apparatus, conduct tests both in the lab and in the field, and collect vital data.
We're looking for someone with a strong interest and aptitude in science and engineering who takes initiative. A great candidate will be proactive in solving problems, resourceful in finding needed information, and comfortable collaborating with team members when support is needed to complete tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute assigned tasks independently while seeking guidance and advice from engineers and team members as needed.
- Conduct experiments and data collection in both indoor lab/shop settings and outdoor field environments.
- Maintain clear communication by regularly monitoring work email, calendar, and direct messages for meetings and task updates.
- Provide timely updates to your supervisor on work progress and any encountered challenges.
- Accurately document data collection procedures and ensure data is properly backed up on shared company drives.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; a technical certification or Associate's degree is a plus.
- Computer Proficiency:
- Comfortable installing software and drivers, and using computer peripherals (e.g., USB devices) in a Windows and/or Linux environment.
- Experience with single-board computers or microcontrollers (e.g., Raspberry Pi, Arduino) is a significant advantage.
- Familiarity with computer programming (e.g., Python, C/C ) is beneficial.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and basic diagnostic equipment (e.g., digital multimeters, measurement calipers, soldering irons).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Basic understanding of electrical circuits and wiring.
- Physical Requirements:
- Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift 30–50 lbs.
