Location: Ontario, CA
Hybrid: 2 days onsite
Pay Rate : $16.00/hr - $35/hr on w2
Shift: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Business Unit: Construction Permitting Organization (CPO)
Role Overview
The Agency Coordinator Senior Specialist (ACSS) supports Southern California Edison’s Construction Permitting Organization by acquiring excavation, encroachment, and traffic control permits for construction work performed in Public and Caltrans Rights of Way. The role requires strong coordination with internal project teams and external governmental agencies to ensure timely and compliant permit approvals.
Key Responsibilities
- Review complex construction drawings and project plans with planners to identify required permits for SCE facilities.
- Determine appropriate internal resources needed to obtain permits.
- Coordinate with governmental agencies and external organizations to secure favorable permit conditions.
- Prepare, submit, and track excavation, encroachment, and traffic control permit applications.
- Develop and maintain relationships with permitting staff at local, county, and state agencies.
- Ensure permit applications are complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
- Act as a single point of contact for all internal and external permit-related inquiries.
- Distribute approved permits to project managers and construction teams prior to construction start.
- Track permit status and provide regular updates to internal stakeholders.
- Address unfavorable or unacceptable permit conditions and escalate issues when necessary.
- Mentor entry-level permit and contract specialists.
- Support new business processes and ensure compliance with SCE standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in permitting, planning, engineering, construction, inspection, utility design, and/or project management support.
- Hands-on experience acquiring encroachment, excavation, and/or traffic control permits.
- Proven ability to work with governmental agencies to obtain construction permits.
- Experience working within construction timelines and coordinating with field teams and clients.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
- Associate’s Degree in a related field required.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
Analytical / Technical Skills (As Described)
- 3–5 years in an analytical role using databases and spreadsheet tools.
- Experience gathering, documenting, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data.
- Ability to analyze, code, test, and document moderately complex application programs.
- Working knowledge of two programming languages (preferred).
- Understanding of report production, database structures, and system operations tools.
- Familiarity with systems development and project methodologies (preferred).
