SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for category management and conducting procurement events. This includes supplier qualification, price negotiation, landed cost analysis and contract management. This also includes leading strategic initiatives to reduce product costs. The Strategic Sourcing Manager will be held accountable for developing procurement strategies, making purchasing recommendations, monitoring commodity markets, and managing almost $100MM annual spend. This position may also perform distribution, freight, and promotion management projects, as time permits. This role reports to the Director of Sourcing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Analyze the supply marketplace by conducting research and bidding activities such as RFx’s
  • Identify and execute cost savings initiatives to improve costs without compromising quality and advocate change in support of company/department projects
  • Perform complex landed cost analysis to model potential sourcing solutions
  • Lead the process of qualifying, selecting, and testing new supplier partners
  • Maintain working knowledge of business trends including industry issues, cost drivers, global pricing, market conditions and economic indicators
  • Evaluate economic and commodity conditions to identify areas of opportunity
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert for product cost and sourcing expertise
  • Support procurement recommendations by providing rationale and building a business case
  • Conduct regular supplier business reviews that capture spend, performance, technology roadmaps, business growth strategies and supply market changes
  • Participates in S&OP process and coordinates supplier's production to meet demand
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with current and potential supplier partners

  • Establish service level agreements and other terms and conditions to drive value for the brand
  • Manage supplier contracts and ensure completion of legal requirements
  • Manage supply risk by qualifying and testing secondary and/or alternate sources of supply
  • Drive the implementation of new tools and processes to improve the strategic sourcing methods
  • Evaluate system spend to establish patterns for sourcing seasonality
  • Communicate the impact of sourcing decisions to franchisees and internal management
  • Builds collaborative relationships with Legal, R&D, QA, Operations, and other internal stakeholders to drive innovation
  • Build relationships with supplier working team/contacts
  • Act as a leader, manager, and mentor within the organization
  • Other responsibilities as assignment by management
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • 5 years of experience in a procurement, contract management or strategic sourcing role
  • Experience procuring perishable products
  • Supply chain experience within the foodservice or food manufacturing industry
  • QSR or Fast Casual Experience Preferred
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, finance, or another related field
  • Supply chain experience within the foodservice or food manufacturing industry

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, KNOWLEDGE, OR LICENSES
  • Contract negotiation strategies including food safety, pricing, and technical terms
  • Experience with competitive bids and RFx’s
  • Understand the impact of currency exchange rates and macroeconomics
  • Understand commodity markets and procurement strategies to optimize market conditions
  • Knowledge of strategic sourcing processes, policies, and procedures
  • Self-motivated, self-starter with ability to work independently
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines in a fast-paced, team environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an appreciation of and attention to important details
  • Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
  • Must be computer proficient (MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) with intermediate to advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel
  • CPM or CPSM or similar certifications a plus
  • PMP certification a plus
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
  • This position requires up to 10% travel as needed to support key business initiatives
