Position Overview
Oversee core accounting operations (AP/AR, GL, close), financial reporting, budgeting/forecasting, and internal controls. Serve as a key advisor to leadership and liaison to CPAs, auditors, and financial institutions—ensuring accuracy, compliance, and decision-ready insights that support growth.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable — Approve invoicing, monitor aging/collections, and ensure accurate cash application.
Accounts Payable & Vendors — Oversee bill entry, liabilities, payment schedules; enforce vendor policies.
General Ledger & Close — Finalize bank recs, oversee journal entries, lead monthly/year-end close; maintain fixed-asset depreciation.
Financial Reporting & Analysis — Deliver P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow; support budget/forecast; track inventory and COGS; provide purchasing insights.
Internal Controls & Audit — Build/document controls; lead audit prep; ensure GAAP compliance.
Tax & Compliance — Coordinate with CPA on filings; manage licenses; monitor 1099s, W-9s, COIs, and workers’ comp compliance.
Insurance & Risk — Coordinate claims/renewals; track subcontractor COIs; support project risk/finance.
Systems & Data Security — Administer QuickBooks access; ensure backups and system integrity.
Financial Liaison — Primary contact for banks, CPAs, counsel; provide financial oversight for ongoing/new projects.
Core Competencies & Skills
QuickBooks Desktop (advanced), GAAP, reporting/budgeting/forecasting, tax/audit coordination, Excel/Sheets (pivots, formulas, modeling), internal controls/risk/cost accounting, detail orientation, leadership, communication, cross-functional collaboration, problem solving, and adaptability in a fast-paced SMB.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Primarily office-based, computer-heavy role; sit/stand/walk as needed; accurate data entry; occasional lifting (typically under 20 lbs); occasional travel for partner meetings, audits, or site visits.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance (Master’s preferred).
5 years’ leadership experience in accounting/finance; proven team leadership.
Small-business accounting background; establishing controls/systems.
5 years with QuickBooks Desktop; strong GAAP knowledge.
