What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sexual Violence Victim Advocate position at True North of Columbia, Inc.?
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Provide case management sessions for victims of sexual violence.
- Coordinate the volunteer hospital advocacy program to ensure that coverage is maintained twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
- When requested by a victim, assist the victim in completing a petition for a temporary order of protection
- Provide advocacy through the hotline to victims of sexual violence.
- Assist victims with safety planning before, during and after the full order hearing.
- Provide case management and/or victim advocacy services to facilitate the victims’ quest for independence.
- Assist the Training Manager in preparing sexual violence and human trafficking victim service provision training for new staff and volunteers twice a year.
- Coordinate services to victims of human trafficking between True North and other agencies.
- Train service providers in the community and other social service organizations in victim screening and service provision.
- Provide the community at large (civic organizations, businesses, student organizations, schools, among others) with education on the dynamics of sexual violence and recognition of trauma in those individuals.
- Be on the hospital on-call rotation as a staff backup for the hospital volunteer advocates.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or Executive Director.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform other duties both within the program area and throughout the agency, as requested or required by the Executive Director.
- Complete appropriate paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure that precautions are taken to provide security and confidentiality for all residents and non-residents.
- May be asked or required to participate in training activities that facilitate the performance of job duties (some travel may be required).
- Carry out the policies of the governing body and the Executive Director in the performance of job duties.
- Keep professional boundaries with clients and maintain client confidentiality.
