Summary

The Controller will plan and direct the accounting operations and activities of the company.

Essential Functions

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Ensure accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses
• Prepare and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
• Prepare monthly account reconciliations
• Prepare and post journal entries with the proper supporting documentation
• Process accounts payable invoices and expense reports
• Allocate expenses between various jobs/cost objectives, billing them as needed
• Prepare invoices along with required supporting documentation
• Support CFO in implementation and oversight of internal controls, GAAP, CAS and FAR regulations as they pertain to accounting transactions
• Work with internal and external auditors to demonstrate compliance of internal controls
• Interface with management in various departments, including sales, operations, and marketing
• Perform ad hoc analysis as needed
• Assist with investor and lender reporting
• Maintain financial security by following internal controls
• Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
• 1099 maintenance and annual preparation
• Respond to all customer and vendor inquiries, maintain accurate vendor accounts and collect from customers as needed

Supervision Received: The position reports directly to the CFO

Competency or position requirements

• Excellent management and supervisory skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
• Proficient in database and accounting software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor's Degree Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance required; Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance preferred.

Business experience: Eight years of related experience required; DoD experience preferred.

Computer Skills: Microsoft Office including advanced proficiency in Excel spreadsheet preparation, NetSuite experience a plus

Certificates and Licenses: Certified Public Accountant designation required

Other Requirements: Technical Manufacturing, Government Contracting, Aviation and/or Defense Industry experience a plus

Physical Factors

Must be able to lift or carry up to 15lbs.

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Working Conditions

The department for this position is indoors in an office atmosphere.
