Job Details

Our Engineering firm is seeking a highly skilled Controller to join our team. We are a fast-paced and dynamic company that is looking for someone who is driven, detail-oriented, and has a passion for numbers. The ideal candidate will have experience in cash management, weekly and monthly reporting, manual GL entries, deferred revenue reports, inventory reconciliation, WIP reports, bond audits, CPA certification, Big 4, and Jonas Construction Software. This is a full-time position with competitive compensation and benefits.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
• Manage the monthly and yearly financial close process
• Prepare financial statements and reports for management and external stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements
• Manage cash flow and forecasting activities
• Reconcile inventory and WIP accounts
• Perform bond audits and maintain compliance with bond covenants
• Oversee the preparation of deferred revenue reports
• Manage the preparation of weekly and monthly financial reports
• Prepare manual GL entries as needed
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely information
• Provide guidance and support to the accounting team
• Participate in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures
• Work with external auditors to ensure a smooth audit process

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA certification (preferred not required)
• 3 years of experience in a Controller role or similar position
• Experience with Jonas Construction Software preferred
• Construction / Engineering Services experience preferred
• Experience with cash management, weekly and monthly reporting, manual GL entries, deferred revenue reports, inventory reconciliation, WIP reports, and bond audits required
• Strong understanding of GAAP and other regulatory requirements
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Experience working in a Big 4 accounting firm is a plus
