Patient Support Coordinator III (Onsite)

Assignment Length: 12-week contract with high potential to extend or convert

Position Overview
The Support Coordinator III is a senior administrative role responsible for supporting daily operations in a fast-paced ambulatory clinic. This position plays a vital role in delivering patient-centered customer service while ensuring efficient scheduling, referral coordination, billing support, and accurate documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Enter and maintain accurate patient and referral information in electronic medical systems
- Process new referrals, collect required documentation, and coordinate care with physicians and clinical teams
- Schedule patient visits, procedures, labs, surgeries, and diagnostic testing, including pre-authorizations
- Respond promptly and professionally to patient inquiries, emails, and voicemails
- Greet and assist patients and caregivers, including benefit verification and financial risk assessment
- Resolve complex customer service issues and provide guidance to less experienced staff
- Act as a liaison between patients, physicians, clinic staff, and hospital departments
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and clinic policies to protect patient confidentiality
- Assist with onboarding and training of new hires
- Support quality assurance, data collection, and process improvement initiatives
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Proven experience in customer service, patient scheduling, and referral processing
- Experience with insurance billing, registration, or admitting in a hospital or medical office setting
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and basic word processing
- Ability to navigate hospital scheduling and registration systems (Client Centricity, Cerner, PBAR preferred)
- Strong communication skills with fluency in English (written and verbal)
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Solid understanding of major medical insurance plans and government health programs
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- 5 years of administrative or customer service experience in a medical office, preferably ambulatory care
- Certifications such as Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Medical Billing and Coding
- Bilingual skills (Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese preferred)
