What are the responsibilities and job description for the Media and Communications Specialist position at Tulane University?
Manages programs, projects and activities related to communication at the Stone Center for Latin American Studies (SCLAS), Center for Inter-American Policy and Research (CIPR), and the Cuban and Caribbean Studies Institute (CCSI). Actively promotes the programs, events, and people of SCLAS and its affiliated entities to internal and external communities, the general press, the higher education community, and the international/area studies community.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Expertise in crafting messages and communications strategies targeting different constituencies, including students, faculty, staff, and constituencies of Stone Center programming.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent relationship-building skills.
- Creativity, entrepreneurial skills, follow-through ability, attention to accuracy and detail.
- Expertise in social media platforms, Microsoft Office suite, web software.
- Expertise in image and video editing, in particular Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
- Bachelor's degree
- 3 years of experience in digital media, social media, public relations, marketing, journalism, or communications
- General Knowledge of Latin America and the Caribbean as a world region.
- Bilingual verbal and written communication skills, to include the ability to write and speak in both English and Spanish and/or Portuguese
