What are the responsibilities and job description for the COMMUNITY LIAISON position at UHS?
Cedar Hills Hospital currently has an opening for a full time Veteran Program VA Liaison. This position establishes and maintains positive relationships at military installations and with civilian referral sources in a designated market, in service of meeting hospital admissions goals for our Military Inpatient Program. This position is mostly remote but must have the ability to come into the office on a weekly basis and also travel to locations throughout the state. Responsibilities include:
- Creating referral network through building relationships with physicians, clinicians, hospital systems and various other providers
- Managing communication with our referral base and the healthcare community
- Developing strategic business development initiatives
- Organizing and executing community events
- Outreach and engagement with numerous stakeholders in mental health care in the region
- Monitoring, analyzing and forecasting health trends and indicators in the service area to maximize marketing efforts
- Driving internal organizational change by utilizing external customer feedback for continuous clinical improvement and customer service
- Promoting and supporting clinical process for both outpatient and inpatient care
- Contract negotiations with managed care organizations
- Military referral account management that emphasizes consistent face-to-face contact, resulting in admissions to the facilities programs
- Identify and develop new military/civilian referral sources for education and awareness of clinical services provided by Cedar Hills Hospital
- Obtain and provide management with up to date information about changes in the market, maintain point of contact and protocol systems for each account
- Build and monitor perceptions of the hospital as a high quality provider of services.
- Ability to market diligently and deal tactfully with referral sources.
- Recognize and resolve barriers to admission and assist with the coordination of the referral-to-admission process.
- Represent the hospital at trade shows, networking events, educational (CEU) events, and conferences. Provide in-services and professional presentations on Cedar Hills Hospital military programs, continuum of services, admissions criteria, and admissions process.
- Travel frequently to military installations, scheduling meetings, and developing contacts/referral sources.
- Documents referral sources within UHS tracking tool.
- Assist in the development of the quarterly marketing plan, framing your role in its success, and tracking it’s progress and analyzing results under the direction of the Director of Business Development.

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in counseling/social work/psychology/business administration/health care administration/marketing/nursing or equivalent military experience preferred.
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years experience in health care business development/marketing environment with measurable business development results and a knowledge of psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment principles preferred.
Licensure: Valid driver’s license with safe driving record.
Other: Excellent written and oral communication skills, frequent travel required, ability to work with a sense of autonomy, highly organized, assertive, flexible, and team oriented. Former military/first responder experience preferred.
May be required to work occasional overtime and flexible hours.
