Key Responsibilities
- Perform and manage regularly scheduled quality assurance testing of radiation treatment systems (e.g., linear accelerators, brachytherapy units, CT scanners, treatment planning software).
- Be present for and supervise radiation treatments that require a medical physicist.
- Conduct and oversee computer-aided treatment planning and calculations for external beam and brachytherapy cases.
- Evaluate patient-related dosimetric measurements to ensure accuracy and treatment quality.
- Offer consultation to radiation oncologists, clinical staff, and patients as needed.
- Participate in the commissioning and acceptance testing of new treatment modalities and technologies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations.
- Stay up to date with continuing education, certification, and licensure requirements.
- Education: Master of Science (MS) or Doctorate of Medical Physics (DMP) in Medical Physics.
- Licensure: Must hold or be eligible for a Texas Medical Physicist License (LMP).
- Experience: Less than 1 year of relevant experience required (new grads welcome).
- Key Skills:
- Familiarity with clinical workflows in radiation oncology.
- Strong knowledge of radiation treatment equipment, QA procedures, and dosimetry systems.
- Ability to work independently and make informed clinical decisions.
- Strong communication skills and professionalism in interactions with staff and patients.
- Willingness to work weekends if required for clinic operations.
