Key Responsibilities
- Perform and manage routine quality assurance (QA) on radiation therapy equipment including linear accelerators, brachytherapy units, CT scanners, and planning systems.
- Supervise and perform radiation treatments where the presence of a licensed medical physicist is required.
- Evaluate and support treatment planning and dose calculations for external beam and brachytherapy procedures.
- Perform and assess dosimetric measurements to ensure treatment precision and quality.
- Provide consultation to radiation oncologists, staff, and patients as requested.
- Participate in commissioning and acceptance testing of new treatment equipment and software.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with state and federal standards.
- Maintain required licensure, certifications, and continuing education to remain qualified for the position.
- Education: Master of Science (MS) or Doctorate of Medical Physics (DMP) with a major in Medical Physics.
- Licensure: Licensed or temporarily licensed as a Medical Physicist (LMP) by the State of Texas.
- Experience: Less than 1 year (entry-level applicants encouraged).
- Key Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Strong understanding of radiation oncology clinical workflows.
- Ability to work independently without routine supervision.
- Proficient in operating and maintaining radiation therapy systems and QA equipment.
- Willingness to work weekends, if necessary, for clinical continuity
