Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Associates of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or 60 semester hours of college credit including classes in chemistry and biology and a one-year curriculum in clinical laboratory techniques or a twelve-month military medical laboratory- training program.
- Two years is preferred.
- Registry is preferred by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or by an equivalent agency.
- Moderate proficiency in phlebotomy at all age levels. Computer literate. Strong communication, cooperation and teamwork skills. Customer focused.
- Due to indirect or direct contact, you may be at risk for exposure to tuberculosis, blood borne pathogens (which include HIV and Hepatitis B), and/or other potential infectious diseases. Exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals. Frequent contact with water (hand washing and cleaning). Sufficient noise and interruptions to cause distraction and stress.
- Working and standing throughout shift. Ability to lift 50 pounds and carry 25 pounds. Responsible for lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying objects. Moderate level of manual and finger dexterity. High color discrimination.
