Responsibilities
- Integrates the UnityPoint Health Des Moines Nursing Expectations of Performance in all aspects of care delivery and professional practice.
- Manages daily operations of patient care. Contributes to the maintenance of high quality, cost effective services consistent with the needs of the users and the hospital’s budgetary guidelines.
- Provides clinical leadership by directing, coordinating and delegating patient care in an organized manner, allowing for flexibility.
- Acts as an interdepartmental liaison promoting effective multidisciplinary team work and positive interpersonal relations.
- Collaborates with physicians and other health care team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Remains competent and available to participate in patient care pertinent to clinical specialty.
- Demonstrates personal and professional growth and promotes the same among team members.
- Exhibits discretion and sound judgment in all aspects of the job.
- Maintains awareness of applicable laws and/or regulations affecting patient care. Remains current on law/regulation changes, recognizes implications to the organization and recommends courses of action to ensure compliance.
- Assists in the development of policy/procedure and guidelines for safe, efficient operation of the department as needed.
- Assists in developing annual budget, and takes appropriate action when appropriate to maintain control of department financial resources.
- Implements evidence based practice strategies to meet the patient care needs. Assists in the achievement of quality improvement objectives and takes necessary modifications for attainment of goals.
- Participates in interviews, coaching and evaluation of team member performance with appropriate input. Demonstrates the ability to fairly and consistently interpret, apply and follow HR policies/procedures.
- Represents UPHDM in a professional manner. Promotes positive interpersonal relations and serves as a role model within the department and with hospital personnel.
- Creates an environment that promotes staff empowerment.
- Displays creativity and innovation when making recommendations for improvement in the delivery of services to the hospital.
- Is able to instruct and lead the staff so that a high level of productivity is maintained, intervening when necessary to problem solve.

- Publishes a timely, fair, consistent and impartial staffing schedule that meets the department need.
- Supervises, supports, evaluates and guides staff providing appropriate input for job performance.
- Set agendas and run meetings.
- Demonstrates knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately.
Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited nursing program.
- Bachelor's degree
- Current licensure in good standing to pratice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa
- One year experience as a registered nurse. 3 years OR nursing, charge nurse, or leadership experience preferred.
- Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support certification within 3 from date of hire.

- Department: PACU- Meth;
- Shift: 10 hour shifts; 4 per week; Monday-Friday only; No weekend or holiday requirement. Rotating hours 7am-7:30pm.;
