Department: WBSKB | Women's Basketball Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties: Assist with the management and administration of an effective and efficient basketball program. The position reports to the director of athletics. This position is part-time. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Verifiable experience coaching basketball. Preferred Qualifications: N/A Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of all aspects of the game of basketball. Familiarity with university policies regarding athletics, Division II basketball programs, Lone Star Conference rules, and NCAA rules and regulations. Successful completion of the NCAA Coaches Certification before the first practice. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for all aspects of practice and game preparation as directed by head coach, including but not limited to offensive and defensive drills, individual player improvement, game organization, and pre-and post-season improvement programs example: weight room. Assist in the recruitment of players by identifying and assessing talent, communicating with prospective recruits by mail, phone, and other facets. Responsible for academic supervision of players including, but not limited to classroom checks, arranging study halls and tutoring sessions, and communication with an academic advisor and Faculty Athletic Representative. Responsible for building good relationships with players, faculty, staff, boosters, and the community, monitoring possible disciplinary situations, serving as a liaison between players and head coach. Other duties as assigned.
