Qualifications:
Required Education and/or Work Experience: Current student with junior (60 credit hours) or higher standing in post-secondary institution and a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher; and well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning and supervision of a residential setting for Upward Bound Bridge program students.
- Participate in all aspects of the Upward Bound Bridge program, including evening activities, meetings, and the awards ceremony.
- Assist with students’ personal and academic success by providing support and serving as a positive role model and supervising tutoring hours.
- Enforce Upward Bound policies and procedures and report any infractions or student issues and concerns immediately to the Upward Bound Directors.
- Attend staff orientation and meetings.
Responsible for maintaining a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to foster teamwork and by providing leadership to subordinates. Requires consistent on-time attendance.
Other Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
- Maintains strong working relationship with staff.
- Contributes to the overall success of the department by performing all other duties as requested or assigned.

Additional Information:
Working Relationships: Resident Assistants have regular contact with students, tutors, Upward Bound staff, and university staff.
List Employees Supervised: None
Special Job Dimensions: This position may require occasional bending and lifting, for example, when the students move in and out of the dorms and when handling supplies and equipment. Overnight stay in residential hall when Bridge students are on campus. Extended hours occasionally required. Normal working hours: Sunday 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm, Monday - Wednesday 4:30 pm -11:00 pm, and Thursday 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm during the five-week Bridge program. Residential Life Assistants may work up to 30 hours per week.
Background Check Requirements. Criminal background check; Arkansas Mandated Reporters training; and MVR (motor vehicle registry) required for this position.
