The role

The School of Computer Science within the Faculty of Science & Engineering is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in High Performance Computing as a one-year fixed-term position. This is a pathway 1 role (includes research and teaching). The role holder will be a member of the High Performance Computing Research Group and the Core Academic Team of the School.

What will you be doing?

As an academic in the School, you'll deliver engaging teaching, supervise projects, and build and contribute to research programs. You'll design courses, guide student assessments, and foster academic growth. You'll pursue personal research, disseminate findings, and engage in impactful activities beyond academia. We expect this role to specifically contribute to teaching units in High Performance Computing and Advanced Computer Architecture.

You’ll be a member of the Core Academic Team, and the High Performance Computing research group. You’ll have further opportunities to work with researchers and professional services staff on Isambard facilities, and beyond as appropriate.

You should apply if

You Have

  • A good honours degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • A PhD or working towards one in Computer Science or a closely related discipline, or substantial relevant industrial/commercial experience.
  • Experience teaching university-level courses in high-performance computing, cloud computing, and computer architecture, appropriate for the level.
  • Research expertise in high-performance computing, aligned with the School’s current activities, particularly within the HPC Group.
  • Dedication to effectively delivering knowledge to undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Contract type: Fixed term until 31/7/2026

Work pattern: Part time/0.3 FTE

Grade: J/Pathway 1

Salary: £43,482 - £50,253 per annum pro rata
