The University of Dayton's Athletics department invites qualified applicants to apply for our Assistant Women's Softball Coach opening! This is a full time benefit eligible position that offers health, dental and vision insurance, retirement, disability, tuition assistance for you and your dependents, vacation/sick accrual and holiday pay.
The assistant coach will assist the head coach in many aspects of this competitive NCAA Division I softball program. The assistant coach will primarily instruct, train and coach student athletes about the collegiate sport of softball, the game and the skills required at the Division I level. This position will also instruct student athletes for purposes of academic, social development, compliance requirements, and safety and health considerations. The assistant coach will implement a pitching development program in accordance with the philosophy of head coach, and will assist in recruiting quality student athletes, engage in team operations, including analytics and video editing and management. Additional duties related to the program (e.g., office duties, team travel operations, preparing player evaluations, assisting with field maintenance and equipment inventory and other duties as assigned by head coach) are also part of this position. The position will require some evening, weekend and holiday work. University of Dayton Athletics employees are expected to comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations governing the University, the NCAA and the Atlantic 10 Conference . The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate expertise in all aspects of coaching student athletes and demonstrate a commitment to the highest ideals of leadership, sportsmanship and academics with demonstrated and successful experience working with people from diverse backgrounds.
Bachelor's Degree,
Experience in softball pitching instruction & development,
Able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays,
Must work well with others in a team setting, be willing to take on extra duties as assigned,
Able to demonstrate excellent written communication skills.
Possess a valid driver's license, maintains a low risk driving record and is able to be certified by the University.
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
Head coaching experience,
College softball/baseball playing experience,
Strong technical knowledge of collegiate women's softball,
Strong technical ability in pitching instruction, analytics and Dartfish video software,
Demonstrate excellent verbal communication and organizational/administrative skills, Demonstrate good working knowledge of and a personal commitment to adhering to institutional, conference and NCAA policy, rules and regulations,
Demonstrate expertise in all aspects of coaching student athletes and,
Demonstrate a commitment to the highest ideals of leadership, sportsmanship and academics with demonstrated and successful experience working with people from diverse backgrounds.
