Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular Board of Regents (BOR) and Civil Service employees (i.e. paid holidays/leave). Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Duties:
Technology Support:
Set up Kipuka technology lending program including updating policy use agreements for Kipuka Center
Communications:
Schedule timely email updates
- Engage with DSA units for the following: monthly newsletters, weekly student emails & weekly staff emails
- Share relevant content after collaborating with DSA units for featured information.
- Develop and format newsletters (for targeted audience)
- Create and administer forms/surveys for DSA events for faculty feedback
- Design graphic cards for faculty appreciation in regard to birthdays and anniversaries
- Input Kipuka events to UH Hilo campus calendar
Website Design & Social Media:
Manage and organize DSA’s website as needed.
- Update as relevant information changes within the semesters
- Create graphics, videos, informational resources, and content marketing for DSA Instagram page
- Share relevant content covering DSA’s upcoming news and events
- Engage with followers on social media
Meetings (Virtual Word Processes):
- Attend weekly zoom meetings with office staff
- Hosts virtual zoom meetings with units as needed for content searching
- Email communication on a daily and weekly basis
- Coordinate and participate in the activity creation planning groups of other university departments and offices. (eg: First Year Experience (orientation), Marketing and Social Media Advisory Group, Campus Center, Admissions, and Financial Aid. This collaboration will be used to create brochures, templates, advertisements, videos, spreadsheets or to conduct research.

Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a baccalaureate degree in any field from an accredited university.
- Demonstrated knowledge of UH Hilo programs and services.
- Previous experience working in a higher education institution.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
- Any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated
