Responsibilities*
- Attend mandatory training each semester.
- Under staff supervision, facilitate and co-explore with UM-Dearborn students on topics, such as resume and cover letter writing, mock interviews, job search strategies, and major and career exploration.
- Make appropriate recommendations for follow-up appointments and campus resources.
- Maintain accurate daily records of all student interactions.
- Participate in Career Services events as needed.
- Promote Career Services programs, events & resources (including the Talent Gateway).
- Perform other Career Services office duties as needed.
- Engage in mandatory career education training and professional development throughout the academic year provided by Career Services.
Required Qualifications*
- Must have good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
- Positive attitude and genuinely enjoys helping people.
- Ability to work with a diverse campus community of students, staff, alumni, and employers.
- High level of interpersonal skills: can listen effectively and interact with people appropriately and professionally.
- Ability to work a minimum of 10 hours per week.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to work the full academic year (September 2023 - April 2024).
- Participant in the Talent Gateway program actively working towards the (M)Talent Distinction.
- Able to use google calendar and google documents.
- Federal Work Study Eligibility.
- Able to work Friday mornings.
Work Schedule
- Flexible work hours. We will work around your schedule (exception: must be available to attend training).
- Career Peers will undergo an evaluation for rehire at the end of each semester.
- Position is not guaranteed for more than one semester.
