- Design and execute research projects related to temperate forest ecosystems, biogeochemistry, carbon cycling, plant-soil interactions, and ecohydrology.
- Implement field studies, data collection and laboratory analysis.
- Analyze and interpret data and contribute to the development of quantitative models of forest carbon and water cycling.
- Prepare and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
- Effectively communicate research outcomes through presentations at conferences and other scientific forums.
- Oversee physical laboratory spaces.
- Secure external funds by serving as principal investigator or co-investigator on proposals to federal or non-governmental funding agencies.
