Brief Summary of Work for this Position
Positions in this banded class perform skilled work in the maintenance and repair of electronics devices, instruments, equipment and/or systems. Work may involve design and construction or modification of electronic devices. Positions operate standard and/or specialized testing equipment while troubleshooting electronic devices and systems.
Responsibilities include:
Responsibilities include:
- Coordinate with Project Management and Contractors for the construction of new facilities and the retrofit of existing facilities for card access and security camera installations to secure campus buildings and structures.
- Perform or oversee installations.
- Identify issues with existing access control and security camera equipment, troubleshoot and repair as required.
- Develop innovative solutions to improve the operations and reliability of systems and equipment. Responsible for keeping work orders and other documentation up to date and accurate.
- Work closely with UNCW Physical Security Lock Shop to assist in the maintenance and repair of campus standard and electrified door hardware, key and core issues and automatic door operators.
This position has been designated as mandatory personnel for the university and may be required to report to work during adverse weather conditions even though the university may be operating on an alternate schedule. This position may assist in the removal of snow, ice or debris.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Associate’s degree in electronics; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
