Position Summary
The Lifeguard monitors the safety of patrons and the conditions of the pool.
This is a student position open to current UIW students.

Essential Functions
Essential functions include:
- Maintain lifesaving skills through in-service and personal training;
- Monitor pool chemical levels;
- Report any non-functioning equipment or operations to the Director
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations;
- Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques;
- Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork;
- Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures;
- Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions;
- Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures;
- Dependable and punctual (due to safety and professional duties of the position, absences from assigned shifts or duties will not be tolerated);
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.;
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA

Preferred Qualifications
Previous lifeguard experience
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
- Successful completion and clearance of a pre-employment background check
- American Red Cross Life Guard Certification
Work Hours
- Must be available to cover shifts as required;
- Will be required to cover holiday and school break schedules as required by the Director of Sports and Wellness
Physical Demands
- Ability to swim 500 m in 20 minutes in order to pass lifeguard certification;
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical skills evaluation as stipulated by the department
