University Physicians' Association is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for University Surgeons Associates located in Knoxville, TN.
General Summary: Work as part of a team to assist one or more providers in giving excellent patient care to patients in the clinic or by telephone when necessary.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
1. Escort patients to the appropriate exam room and perform weight and vital signs, including BPs and then inputting information into EHR, along with other medical history and information.
2. Assist provider with procedures.
3. Schedule labs and procedures, including surgeries as ordered by provider, completing and sending any required forms. Notify patients as instructed by provider.
4. Provide pre-surgical and post-surgical information to patients as requested by provider.
5. Ensure lab and procedure results are available to provider in a timely manner and documented appropriately in EHR.
6. Assist with patient prescriptions as directed by provider, including refill requests.
7. Prepare for clinics - look at future schedules and ensure all information available is located in patients’ charts for provider’s review. Find and request medical records as appropriate.
8. Clean exam rooms between patient and at end of the day. Keep rooms stocked with all essential supplies. Ensure supplies are ordered when needed.
9. Keep up with all EHR tasks and return all telephone calls appropriately, requesting guidance from the provider as needed.
10. Other tasks as assigned such as cleaning instruments, ordering supplies, managing samples log and checking medications for expirations.
11. Prepare medical information needed for Pre-Certification Specialist in order to ensure all necessary pre-certifications are obtained. In some cases, be responsible for obtaining pre-certs for surgeries, procedures and medications.

Requirements
Education: Licensed Nurses – Completion of nurses training from an accredited school. LPN and RN must maintain up-to-date license.
Medical Assistants: Completion of MA training at an accredited school or at least 3 years of hands-on training from a medical facility or medical office. Certification or registration preferred.
Equipment Operation: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc. Also, medical equipment including blood pressure equipment, centrifuge, etc.
