Detailed Responsibilities:
- SUPERVISION - Develop efficient organizational structure. Supervise employees and select, terminate, train, educate, correct deficiencies, perform appraisals, issue discipline, counsel, schedule work assignments; encourage staff teamwork and growth initiatives
- CUSTOMER RELATIONS - Establish and maintain good rapport and effective working relationships with patients, visitors, physicians and Hospitals employees
- EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES - Analyze the dept needs and direct the requisitioning, sorting, labeling, storing and issuing of equipment and supplies
- IN-SERVICES - Plan and coordinate in-services for assigned staff
- INVENTORY - Coordinate physical inventory activities. Data entry into Ross System, assist control of hospital inventory by using GEMBASE Thin Clinic; generate and review hospital Pyxis reports
- INVENTORY - Ensure inventory accuracy is maintained through cycle counting, cycle adjustments
- DOCUMENTATION - Prepare documentation including Special Bed, Wound VAC, and CPM rentals. Prepare purchase requisitions. Use Cerner Millennium System, fill outpatient supply prescriptions; close out cash register. Approve invoices for Accounts Payable. Control patient custom garment charges and invoicing including patient billing
- SUPPLIES - Supervise the unloading, storing, routing and delivering of supplies to all users in a timely manner
- BUDGET - Assist in annual fiscal budget preparation, budget maintenance, assessment of budget variances and action plans for remedy
- LIAISON - Act as a liaison between management and department personnel; coordinate with other staff professionals, divisions and departments; meet with nurse managers to discuss and resolve problems
- SAFETY - Ensure and maintain adequate safety equipment and training in all areas of the department
- ENVIRONMENT - Foster a supportive working environment promoting employee participation, cooperation and professional growth
- QUALITY - Document monthly quality rounds with key users/managers in assigned areas; develop action plans correcting deficiencies; maintain efficient communication between all shifts and departments ensuring smooth operation and continuity of work
- PROCESS IMPROVEMENT - Monitor staff functions, identify opportunities for improvement, and take necessary steps to achieve the identified opportunity
- POLICY & PROCEDURE - Follow and maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
- POLICY & PROCEDURE - Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures
- GOALS & OBJECTIVES - Provide leadership for Nursing and shared governance councils within the Clinical Enterprise to ensure the establishment and maintenance of nursing goals and objectives
