Position Summary

The Maintenance Worker at UP Excellence Academy is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the smooth operation and upkeep of school facilities. This role is essential in maintaining a safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing environment for students, staff, and visitors.

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Conduct inspections and identify potential issues or hazards in the facility.
• Respond to maintenance requests and work orders promptly and efficiently.
• Repair and replace faulty or damaged components, fixtures, and equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks to extend the lifespan of equipment and systems.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
• Collaborate with custodial staff to ensure the cleanliness and functionality of the school environment.
• Assist with setting up and breaking down for school events and activities.
• Maintain school grounds, including basic landscaping, snow removal, and outdoor maintenance.
• Operate and maintain maintenance tools and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols in all maintenance activities.
• Monitor and manage inventory of maintenance supplies and request restocking as needed.
• Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or services as required.
• Respond to emergency maintenance issues and provide timely solutions.
• Participate in professional development and training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  
  

Position Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent.
  
  

Experience

• Previous experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or a related field preferred.
  
  

Skills And Abilities

• Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Proficiency in using maintenance tools and equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and diagrams.
• Good communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
