Job Summary:
As an Equipment Operator/Laborer, you will have responsibility for maintaining production, maintenance, quality, and safety within the Aggregates' Operations function.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Operate, service, and maintain various heavy equipment including front-end loaders, off road dump trucks, skid steer, man-lift, fuel truck and water truck in order to keep plant clean and in production.
- Responsible for fueling, oiling, greasing equipment as well as understanding the equipment's safety manual.
- Perform pre-shift and end of shift checks and maintenance on equipment.
- Report orally and in writing to as required and maintain accurate records (i.e. activity reports, inventory reports, maintenance logs, etc.) as directed.
- Participate in general training, job specific training and hazardous materials training as required; successfully complete written examinations as required.
- Understand and follow all policies, procedures, and safety rules as applicable to facility, job function and equipment, including rules governing safety around railroad tracks and equipment.
- Keep facilities and equipment clean and maintained.
- Recommend changes to the operation which may produce safer work processes, savings and efficiencies.
- Abiding by yard rules, safety regulations and PPE requirements.
- Accurately completing all required paperwork.
- Abide by terminals processes and procedures relating to product transfers, quality assurance, safety, and operations.
- Complete required training and certifications necessary to perform duties safely and effectively.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Other Requirements:
- Must maintain regular, dependable attendance and a high level of performance.
- Follow written and verbal directions to complete assigned tasks on schedule.
- Read, write, and communicate in English & understand basic math.
- Working knowledge of US Aggregates Safety and Operating principles.
- Complete all applicable documentation, recordkeeping, and daily inventory.
- Participate in safety briefings, job briefings, and any other pass on information from team members, management, or customer.
- Must be able to work with a team, take direction and follow work rules, as well as take on additional job responsibilities as needed or assigned.
- Flexibility required; ability to work days, nights, weekends.
- Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Must possess and exhibit excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently to get things done.
- Strong welding, torching, and maintenance skills preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Physical Requirements:
- Must have the ability to continuously stand or walk on level or uneven ground.
- Must have the ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairways and incline catwalks.
- Must have the ability to bend, crouch and/or kneel at the waist or knees.
- Must have the ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50lbs.
- Ability to work outside the majority of the time and withstand extreme weather conditions. Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather.
