What are the responsibilities and job description for the Naval Pilot position at US Navy Reserve?
About the Job
Pursuing a civilian career doesn't have to mean getting stuck in the corporate world. As a current or former Naval Aviator, there are plenty of part-time opportunities to use your leadership skills and talent in an environment that's constantly changing.
Whether you're looking for a way to continue serving your country while pursuing other passions, or simply want to stay involved with the Navy, the Navy Reserve offers a unique opportunity to do just that. With flexible scheduling and a range of benefits, you can achieve all of your goals - both personally and professionally.
The mission of the Navy Reserve is to provide strategic depth and deliver operational capabilities to the Navy and Marine Corps team and Joint forces, in times of peace or war. Navy Reserve Sailors seamlessly support and actively aid that mission, all while continuing to lead their own independent lives in the civilian world.
Becoming a part of the Navy Reserve requires meeting certain qualifications and requirements. If you're currently in the Inactive Ready Reserve, or you've been off active duty for over six months, you'll need to work with a Navy Officer Recruiter to begin the process of affiliating with the RC. You can locate the nearest Officer Recruiter by going to the Navy website and clicking on the "Find a Recruiter" link, or by calling Navy Recruiting Reserve Command at (901) 300-0423.
Navy Reserve Sailors enjoy a comprehensive range of benefits, from state-of-the-art training to extensive educational assistance, VA benefits and more. In return for your service and dedication, the Navy Reserve provides you with the benefits to succeed in both your military and civilian lives:
- Receive 4 days of basic pay for only 2 days worked (16 hours) each drill weekend
- Opportunities to acquire new skills and sharpen existing ones, enhancing your civilian career
- Educational assistance
- Tax-free, worldwide Navy Exchange and commissary privileges for you and your family
- VA guaranteed home loans
- Low-cost insurance options, including up to $500,000 in life insurance
- Travel opportunities
- Earn points toward retirement benefits every time you drill
- Retirement after 20 qualifying years
In addition to these benefits, Navy Reserve Sailors also have access to education opportunities through Tuition Assistance, DANTES and their post 9/11 or Montgomery GI Bill.
