Navy commissioned physicians provide medical care to service members and their families in a similar manner to civilian doctors. They work at top military medical facilities, utilizing advanced training and technology that may not yet be available in the civilian world.
The Navy healthcare system allows physicians to focus on medicine without the financial and business complexities of private practice. Benefits include:
- Excellent compensation in an established practice
- Manageable patient ratios for high-quality, one-on-one care
- A flexible schedule that leaves more time for family and personal pursuits
As a Navy Physician and Officer in the Navy Medical Corps, you will lead the highly respected Navy healthcare team by providing high-quality medical care for Sailors, Marines, service members, their families, and when called upon, humanity at large.

- Work at top military medical facilities on shore, at sea, and in the field
- Collaborate with top healthcare professionals on the highly valued Navy healthcare team
- Partner with fellow military doctors and other healthcare officers, as well as international relief teams and organizations
- Operate as a leader within your area of focus and gain exposure outside of your specialty

Serving part-time as a Reservist, your duties will be carried out during scheduled drilling and training periods. During monthly drilling, physicians typically work close to their homes, giving them flexibility to expand their medical experience in the Navy without compromising their civilian practice.
