US Trades is seeking experienced Safety Technicians to support an upcoming refinery shutdown. This role will focus on maintaining a safe work environment during high-activity shutdown operations, with an emphasis on mechanical work, crane and rigging activities, and contractor coordination. The ideal candidate has prior shutdown or turnaround experience, understands refinery safety expectations, and is comfortable working in fast-paced, high-risk environments where safety compliance is critical.
Key Responsibilities
• Monitor and enforce site safety policies, procedures, and shutdown safety plans
• Support mechanical, crane, and rigging operations by identifying hazards and ensuring compliance
• Conduct job safety observations, audits, and field verifications
• Participate in and support job safety analyses (JSAs), pre-task planning, and toolbox talks
• Serve as a point of contact for safety-related questions and concerns on site
• Assist with incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions as needed
• Ensure compliance with refinery, client, and regulatory safety requirements
• Work closely with site supervision, craft personnel, and other safety professionals
Required Qualifications
• OSHA 30 Certification (current)
• NCCER Safety or craft certifications
• CPR and First Aid Certification (current)
• Valid TWIC Card
• Safety Essentials credentials (must be current)
• Ability to pass a DISA hair follicle and urine drug test
• Prior experience working as a Safety Technician or Safety Representative
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous Safety Technician experience supporting mechanical contractors during refinery shutdowns or turnarounds
• Experience around crane and rigging operations
• Familiarity with refinery safety standards, permits, and high-hazard work environments
Work Environment & Schedule
• Active refinery shutdown environment
• Day and night shifts available
• Extended work hours and overtime expected during shutdown period
• Must be able to work in varying weather and industrial conditions
