What are the responsibilities and job description for the Infectious Diseases Transplant Specialist position at UT Southwestern Medical Center?

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases and Geographic Medicine, is seeking applicants for a faculty position at the Assistant, Associate and Professor level.  Applicants must have an M.D. degree, or equivalent, from an approved LCME medical school, and have satisfactorily completed an ACGME accredited Internal Medicine residency and an Infectious Diseases fellowship program.  Additional fellowship training in the care of immunocompromised patients and transplant recipients is desired.  Candidates must be eligible Board Certification, Texas medical licensure and be board-certified in Internal Medicine and board-certified/eligible in Infectious Diseases/HIV.  Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. Consideration may be given to applicants seeking less than a full-time schedule.

 

The primary roles and responsibilities will be to provide patient care on the Infectious Diseases Inpatient Transplant Consult Services at Clements University Hospital, Zale-Lipshy and Parkland Health System and Hospital and in the outpatient Parkland and UTSW solid organ and bone marrow transplant clinics. Other duties can include sharing attending duties on General Internal Medicine, General Infectious Diseases, HIV and Bone & Joint Consult services. Participation in the teaching and training of medical and physician assistant students, residents and infectious diseases fellows is also expected.  Clinical, basic science or translational research interests and activities are preferred.   The specific clinical, educational and research interests of the applicant and the needs of the division will determine the exact distribution of responsibilities for a selected faculty member.

 

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information.
